I’ve always had a hard time answering those questions like, “How would you describe yourself in a few words/sentences?” or “Where do you see yourself in a few years?”
Contradictory, perhaps, that someone who writes, observe, speaks and recounts, who has the ability and skill to explain, express and portray events, people and experiences, cannot introduce herself. When trying to describe themselves, people usually start with their name, as the name is the easiest to identify with. Makes sense, right? Some people start talking about profession, academic or other titles. Others talk about their age, where are they from, where they currently live. There are also those, who start describing their character traits. Those with whom they identified, tho.
I can’t do that. Name, age, place of birth and upbringing, religion, character traits, zodiac sign, color of skin, hair and eyes etc – that was given to me. I didn’t choose that, it was given to me by birth.
I can tell you what I like, what I don’t like. I can tell you what makes me happy, but there comes a time when you learn that you can be in a state of joy whenever you want. I can tell you about the emotions I feel, about the thoughts that come to me at certain moments. I can tell you how I handle certain situations. I can show you my weakness, and therefore my strength. I can show you my reality and reveal my truth. I can show you what my choices are, what I base my decisions on, and what my reasoning and thinking process looks like. I can describe to you what it’s like when I love, what it’s like when I’m sad.
I can. And I do that through every word of every written article. And then why bother with labels, most of which were “attached” to us even before we took our first breath on this planet?
After all, it is very likely that you will see in me what you carry in yourself.
And I would also like you to contact me at [email protected] – I also like to meet interesting people, to hear praise, criticism, suggestions. To help, if I can somehow. Or to listen – sometimes that’s more necessary than anything else.
Enjoy reading and discovering.
Discovering who, what and how – I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
